Master the Money!
Start early to maximize scholarships & financial aid
There is a lot of misinformation, scams, and gimmicks out there surrounding college funding. It can be dicey and costly to trust the wrong sources.
This is one class that is based on the facts of how college funding really works, combining merit scholarships and need-based aid. We will discuss how to maximize both, understand how different colleges extend aid differently, how to use dual enrollment and AP courses in high school to create options for shortening college by a year or two, and even the options for a more affordable education in Europe.
Why we offer this workshop:
Very few families can or want to pay sticker price for college.
The average sticker price of one year of college last year was:
Public Universities: $25k in state and $40k out of state.
Private Universities: over $50k (and some are now over $80k).
Most students graduate college with loan debt between $27,000-$33,000.
The good news:
We are going to do a deep dive into how to maximize the two sources of free funding to lower the sticker price and get to the “net price” that can work for you. And we will do it all with the intention of doing it all without student loans. And if a student ends up having to take out some loans, we will discuss the best kind to get.
Tip: Don’t assume you won’t get need-based aid! And don’t assume your student won’t get scholarships. However, it is important to learn this information as soon in the process as possible, even as early as the student’s 8th or 9th grade year.
Spend a few hours to learn how all the moving parts work and how to pay the most affordable price for college possible.
