A compelling and memorable essay can create opportunities and open doors.

A well crafted personal statement or application essay can make a world of difference in a student's admission and scholarship opportunities. Even when a college application says an essay is optional, admission counselors agree that they view applicants much more favorably when they choose to submit an essay that provides some insight into the student’s personality.

 In this intensive, engaging session we will cover the essentials of creating a compelling and effective college admission or scholarship essay. Each student will learn how to determine what to relate in an essay and how to make it unique, compelling and memorable. Throughout the workshop, students will complete exercises that help them hone their writing style, determine the essay’s content and polish it so that it stands out among other essays. 

This class will cover:

• How to pick the best topic for your essay
• How to open with a compelling and engaging introduction
• How to use the right tone, when to use humor (and when not to)
• How to wrap it up in a way that pulls the whole essay together
• How to research the supplemental essays for each college and organize a method to efficiently track and address them all



After this workshop, students will have at least the foundation of their essay completed and will equipped to modify it to re-use on multiple applications.

Thanks to the pandemic, we've learned the power and convenience of Zoom. You can save gas, participate in the class (parents are encouraged to sit in), and instantly get the class recording to review details you may have missed.

However, some of our clients do not enjoy the remote learning environment and have requested we continue to offer our senior bundle classes as in-person events too.  This is especially invaluable with the Essay Writing and Common App classes where you can interact one-on-one with the consultants during the breakout sessions

The in-person events are typically held in Lake Wylie.  Currently we rent space at the Lake Wylie Christian Assembly on Hwy 49.  (see map).  We will send detailed directions closer to the event.

It's just $95 for the 3-hour workshop, all materials, Zoom recording, and follow-up info.

Want the information but can't join in that day? While it's ideal to attend in real-time so that you can engage, ask questions, and enjoy the energy of a live event, sometimes life gets in the way.  We always record our Zoom workshops and host them on our Thinkific site for just $75

Once you have your first draft, you can make use of our in-house professional editor, Deborah Thompson.  She has over ten years of experience in high-level academic editing. Editing is typically arranged by sending her the link to the Google or Word doc. Then, Deborah reviews and emails back the edited version, full of suggestions, corrections, and feedback. She can do a re-edit once the student has revised the draft.

We believe it is much more fair and appropriate only to charge the same hourly rate for editing as we would for any of our services ($95/hr) rather than the typical method of the industry, which is to charge exorbitant rates by the word count. In our system, stronger essays need less editing and will cost less. Our method saves clients over 50% over other editing services and provides superior results.
